  1. Once again, we see how Dr. Hlady figures prominently in these child protection proceedings.

Readers who wish to get a sense of the power Dr. Hlady has wielded can read excerpts, relating to Dr. Hlady, from court Judgments. These excerpts are posted on this blog, on the Friday, April 22, 2011 entry, and start at 1:38 p.m.

  2. And anyone who is interested in reading and adding more excerpts can simply go to the CanLII site and select the jurisdiction of BC, and enter, as a search term, "Dr. Hlady." At least 33 cases will come up.

When you click on the link to an individual case, you will see a highlighted search box/window with "Dr. Hlady" (your search term), with an arrow. Click on the arrow and it will take you to the portion of the text that has your search term.

  4. Dr. Colbourne is not as well represented as Dr. Hlady. We hear that Dr. Hlady did not want to 'step on the toes' of her colleague in providing a second opinion on the Baynes SBS.

Dr. Hlady appears on my file over 10 years ago and I talked to her.

The problem is not Hlady per se, how MCFD quotes fragments and deliberately omits a wider picture, or even a conclusion that would cause a judge to come to an entirely different conclusion than the one MCFD wants.

When second opiniones ARE REFUSED, and we witness extraordinary efforts by MCFD legal to discredit multiple expert opinions, this is where judges have to throw the dice to determine which side has the most credibility.

Dr. Hlady has built up enormous credibility. My thought is that she did not want to tarnish her reputation by associating herself with Dr. Colbourne. As we see now, if she did support Dr. Colburne, her reputation would have taken a very significant hit.

  5. The Hlady involvment early on in the Baynes case with respect to Baden should have significantly helped the Baynes, as it showed a clear example of an initial diagnosis proven wrong after further information.

This judge Crabapple did not give a second thought to the needless trauma imposed on the family as a result of an incorrect diagnosis resulting in charges and dad having to move out of the home.

What goes through a judge's head when, yet again, a faulty diagnosis in the form of shaken baby that results in needless turmoil and hardship for the family?

  6. Sorry, Judge "Crabtree" not Judge "Crabapple". At least I got the crabby part right.
