Symbol of Sharia. crescent moon & Venus star |
I
said yesterday that Canada as a culture has made a
perceptible shift to the Left and this is demonstrated with the election of the
current Liberal federal government. The Liberal policy agenda became attractive
to a majority. This government will make decisions from the Left of Centre on vital
issues in 2016 and beyond. Furthermore I vaguely expressed apprehension about
some issues and the choices to be made. Today I am expressing one specific area
of uneasiness.
It is an Immigration and Sharia Law item.
We need not impugn Liberals since
this matter began within the mandate of the previous Conservative government. In
a 2011 Ottawa survey 64% of Muslims desired to live under some form of Sharia
law. In fact, Muslims are living under
Sharia law and it is progressing at provincial and local levels. Officials have
thought this was right to do, freedom of religion you understand. Federal and provincial governments
in Canada continue to implicitly recognize Sharia law for Canada's Muslim
minority? This is not nonsense. It's not
fiction. It's evidence based.
When
Muslims at the local level push for Sharia law, they generally receive
permission. At Valley Park Middle School, (a public school in Toronto, Ontario
in 2008) each Friday afternoons, a cafeteria becomes a mosque and Muslim
students listen to an imam from a community mosque and they pray towards Mecca.
This practice is echoed in schools across the country. Further, many cafeterias
only serve Halal foods that have been sacrificed to Allah, the moon god. Muhammad chose Allah, the moon god, from among the 360
pagan idols of ancient Mecca to be the sole god of Islam. Observe that public
schools in Canada do not provide facilities for the Christian students to
gather and worship and they do not provide kosher food for the Jewish students.
In
2011, the municipal government of Huntingdon in the province of Quebec built a
mosque, a Halal slaughterhouse and offered a 1-year
property tax moratorium to attract Muslim residents.
For
years now our governments have been sending welfare checks to polygamous Muslim
men who raise multiple families in Canada. Thereby, they tacitly acknowledge
Sharia law for Canada's Muslim minority. You may say that is impossible and illegal.
Of course it is illegal but it is not impossible. Hundreds of Greater Toronto
Area Muslim men in polygamous marriages, some with a harem, receive welfare and
social benefits for each of their spouses. Under Islamic law, a Muslim man is
permitted to have up to four spouses. Wives in polygamous marriages are
recognized as spouses under the Ontario Family Law Act, providing they were
legally married under Muslim laws abroad. Polygamy is a regular part of life
for many Muslims. Ontario recognizes religious marriages for Muslims and
others.
Why
don’t the voices of the Law Societies in each province speak to this - the
voices who vehemently opposed Trinity Western University's application for a Law
School and based that opposition on a community covenant which includes a
clause that students abstain from sex outside of heterosexual marriage during
their schooling when in fact this too is simply a purity statement among
Christians.
Now with citizen disquiet about terrorist infiltration or Muslim concentration, even Conservatives are guarded. There is good reason for such circumspection and I am hoping that Liberals will absorb some as they lead our country. Liberals will need to make some choices. The Canadian Muslim population is projected to triple over the next 20 years.
